How Simplifying Your Life Will Benefit You, and Help You Prepare to Scale Up Your Business
Why Simplifying Your Life is the Key to Scaling Your Business with Ease
Let me tell you something I’ll say until I’m blue in the face: simplifying your life benefits everyone.
You don’t need to be a minimalist like me, and you definitely don’t need to go extreme. But if you're a woman with a big vision, running a business, leading your family, and trying to breathe through the chaos of it all - then simplifying is non-negotiable.
I started my online business journey as a Minimalist Coach for Moms
If you’ve been in my world for any length of time, you’ve probably heard me ‘preach’ about simplicity before. It's not just a random idea I throw around! This was my original work. I started out as a coach for wanna-be-minimalist moms.
Minimalism has been a deep passion of mine for almost a decade… not because it’s trendy, but because it works. It rescued me from deep depression, massive anxiety, mom guilt up the wazoo… and even eventually freed me up to see how unhealthy my marriage was.
My minimalism mentor Rachel Jones (original creator of Nourishing Minimalism, which has since been sold & rebranded) even took me under her wing to show me the ropes of online business, blogging, etc. back in 2019. I was a moderator in her massive Facebook group of over 50K members, for several years as well.
But I’m not here to convince you to own 12 items and live in a tiny house (unless you want to - I do! But that’s a day dream with three kids and all the pets haha).
I’m here to show you that when you simplify, everything gets easier. Clearer. More aligned. And that matters deeply, especially when you're trying to grow your business without losing your mind in the process.
Simplifying Isn’t Just About Stuff (Though That Helps)
Let’s start simple… your stuff. The less you own, the less you clean. The less time you waste. The fewer decisions you need to make daily. That part’s pretty straightforward.
But when you take the idea of simplicity and stretch it across your entire life? That’s where the magic happens.
Less on your calendar = less stress and more free time.
Less digital clutter = fewer distractions and more effective working hours.
Less mental noise = less anxiety and more clarity.
Less emotional baggage = less frustration and easier alignment with your truth.
And when you apply this to business? Holy transformation, sister.
Scaling Requires Simplicity
When you're running a business, especially in the early days when you're doing everything yourself, you cannot afford to overcomplicate it.
You need simple systems. Clean processes. Lean strategies. And a clear focus on what actually moves the needle.
Because scaling isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing more of the right things. You don’t need 100 offers, 7 platforms, and 18 funnels (although it might be fun if you’re a manifesting generator or hyperactive type ADHD like me 😁). You need alignment, clarity, and focus.
And simplifying your life gives you access to all of that.
Simplicity Creates Clarity, And Clarity Creates Momentum
Think of it like wiping dust off an old window.
When your life is cluttered with tasks, thoughts, stuff, emails, sticky notes, and mental loops - it’s like trying to look through a dirty window. You can’t see where you’re going. You can’t trust your next step. Everything feels foggy and frustrating.
But every time you let go of something, whether physical, mental, or emotional; you wipe that window a little cleaner.
And the cleaner that window gets, the more clearly you can see your path forward.
Simplifying Helps You Focus (Especially If You’re a Mom, or Neurodivergent, or… Human)
If you’re a mom, especially one with littles at home all day, you know how hard it is to focus. Throw in some ADHD or just the general mental load of womanhood, and it can feel impossible to move the needle in your business.
Simplifying your life reduces the mental clutter that makes focusing so hard. When your to-do list is clean and centralized, not scattered across 23 sticky notes and 4 different apps, your brain finally gets a break.
And when it’s easier to focus, you focus more often. When you focus more often, you make faster progress. And when you make faster progress, you feel more confident, calm, and powerful.
This is what it looks like to scale in alignment.
The Trap of "Digital Clutter"
Let me give you a word of warning, though.
It’s really easy to get rid of physical stuff and then just dump it into the digital world. I’ve done it. Taking pictures of everything “just in case.” Saving every PDF. Digitizing every receipt, book, or document… and then never organizing or looking at any of it again.
Digital clutter is still clutter. In fact, it’s some of the worst clutter for the mind!
When you’re going to simplify digitally, make sure it’s intentional, but honestly… go for the jugular. Be ruthless. Clean out those email lists. Unfollow groups that aren’t aligned. Delete the downloads you never opened.
Free yourself.
Letting Go Creates Space for Intuition
Every task you delete, every item you release, every “should” you let go of, is another layer of dust wiped away. And the clearer things get, the more space you have to hear your own wisdom.
You weren’t meant to live in chaos. You weren’t meant to lead from burnout. You were meant to lead clearly, fiercely, in alignment with your soul.
But you can’t hear that inner voice if the noise of your life is louder.
The Bottom Line
Simplifying isn’t about perfection. It’s not about being a minimalist, per se. It’s about creating a life and business that feel doable, aligned, and sustainable.
Whether it’s the piles of paper, the mental load of tasks, or the emotional clutter you’re holding onto; every release brings you closer to clarity. And clarity is the foundation of empowered leadership.

Why I Didn’t Cancel This Live (Even With a Sick Toddler + a Birthday)
That day was my oldest daughter’s 12th birthday. My toddler started throwing up while we were out getting cake. It could have easily turned into a total disaster of a day.
But it didn’t.
Why? Because I’d built my business and my life in a way that could hold chaos.
I’ve simplified my systems. I know what truly matters. I know what can slide when life happens. And that means when things hit the fan, I don’t spiral out of control. I adjust. I breathe.
I lead.
So no, I didn’t plan on my toddler throwing up on my daughter’s birthday. But I did plan a life that can hold it all without breaking me or my business.
That is the power of simplifying.
I hope you’ll join me over here too:
Know someone who could benefit from all this?
Have you simplified your life already? Do you need to? Let me know where you’re at in the comments!

I don't have ADHD, but I have attention issues due to PTSD. You make a good point about digital clutter. I recently moved out of state which required me to do major declutter. However, I still have to unpack some clutter I inevitably brought with me. Lol. The declutter thing never seems to end. I had this vision of scanning all the paperwork. That never happened. I'm not sure what's even worth scanning. The thought of scanning and organizing my computer makes my brain want to FREEZE or explode. 🤯 I cannot even imagine. It’s enough to settle into my new home. I just want some peace and quiet. Technology never seems to create that feeling. I'm still working on that relationship.
